BRICKS AND MORTAR

Forever sheltered by the bricks and mortar we hide behind.

Forever sheltered by the bricks and mortar we hide behind.

These walls hold secrets hidden for years behind fine silk threads,

Draped in darkness, under wraps,

Silhouettes entwined in passionate embrace, lover’s arms wrap around the waist,

Whispering tales of terror from the mouths of the old,

Unbearable abuse at the hands of men,

Innocence in the eyes of children,

These walls which confine hold secrets dormant,

They replay in the night,

Forever sheltered by the bricks and mortar we hide behind.
