Different You And Me

black boxSitting on the outside,

Looking in,

The box restricts,

Is bent,

Distorted beyond repair,

The walls cave in,

It’s hard to take breath,

In the confines of a shallow space,

Nobody understands,

On the outside it’s hard to be free,

They condemn,

Guided by fear,

They stare with critical eyes at the one, who isn’t them,

Like a stranger in my land,

I’m unlike them,

I am me,

I will not bend,

To your means,

My thoughts are my own,

Nobody can say,

I’ll live my life my way,

We will remain,

With zest in our convictions,

Different you and me,

But one of the same.
