The Devil Dressed In White

I’ve got tales and fables,
Derails,
Lies like poison,
Bubbles and toils on raw tongue,
Sickly sweet on the throat,
Secrets buried with bones and ancient crones,
Under the plum tree,
Deep down below the churchyard,

Crosses and crucifixes,
Crows pick at flesh,
Ghouls steal from the dead,
Boy don’t close your eyes,

The violin and choir resonate the cathedral stone,
The ghost of saints follow in my shadow,
Whisper in my ear,
Undertones of righteous,
Morals I can’t perceive,
On a shady trail,
A dark highway,
Boy don’t close your eyes,

I look like an angel,
But I sin, like a sinner,
I preach like a preacher,
But dance in the fire,
Boy don’t close your eyes,
I’m the devil dressed in white.
