Hue and Cry

Hue and cry,
Her eyes left dry,
Red and swollen,
The last goodbye –
Fighting the reasons why;
Their love ran bold, and then died,
Sleeping in the willows, breaths wrought,
Twisted and fought,
Inhaling the sorrow; a lament of tomorrow,
Disturbed by the bits and pieces; broken,
And spread out on the floorboards,
Ceilings licked and cut; bled and drained,
Weak and worn thin,
The last goodbye –
An end to the sighs,
A conclusion of lies.
