Twenty One Strings

Twenty one strings
tied
To the threads of my heart,
Some laced
others undone
All exposed
In copper and brass
All weaved in organic cord and set at one,
Unravelled
Knotted and tangled
Knitted and plaited
Mended and melded
Gripping and suffocating
Twenty one strings
fray the edges of my heart
tattered
and
trite
drawn to the jagged bind of your heart.
