Black Market

Bring me back from the brink
My feet left dangling
The edge, a world of broken dreams
Shattered illusions sold
Freedom ransomed and black-market swindled
My eyes adjusting to feathered light
On the threshold of night
The cold biting down
Skin flays
Gaping on the wind
Untying
Long narrow wings.
