Music is the divine way to tell beautiful, poetic things to the heart.
Growing up in a family of five, the youngest, with four older brothers, I couldn’t help but be influenced. Music wise. I followed, listened to over and over, read and wrote the lyrics, my diary sprawled in ink, of beloved songs.
I found inspiration and solace in the music. We all know how difficult the life of teenager can be, so keeping a diary, studying lyrics and listening to music loud, was comforting. My favourite bands growing up; Nirvana, the infamous Hole, Guns and Roses, ACDC, Sound Garden, Led Zeppelin, Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Metallic, The Monkey’s, Silver Chair, etc…Yes you can tell I grew up with brothers.
My love of music continues. In particular my love of indie, alternate, rock, blues. I love Australian home grown bands, and have always liked live bands. The lyrics, the sound and the passion of musicians are inspiring. As a creative person, I get the need, the want, the desire to share myself with the world. To share my writings, my message. Just as Musicians do.
Music brings hope, happiness, and a sense of belonging to the world.
Here is a shortlist of my favourite Australian bands today:
Xavier Rudd is an extremely talented Australian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.
John Butler Trio are an Australian roots band, with the most incredible message of freedom, love, hope and environmental themes within their lyrics. Raw and real.
Lanie Lane is an Australian retro blues-jazz singer-songwriter and guitarist.
Ash Grunwald is an Australian blues musician. He has a strong reputation in Australia and internationally, for his incredible authenticity, uniqueness and upbeat blues vibes, live shows and festival performances.
Children Collide are an ultra cool Australian indie rock band from Melbourne, Australia.
