Soul In The Shadows-Quote and Bonus Poem, Challenge, Day 3.

I would like to thank Matt, at A Standard Issued Life, for this challenge. You should head over and check out his incredible poetry, you will be impressed!

The Quote:

(I Broke the rules, it’s a Sonnet…Rules are made to be broken right?)

Pablo Neruda, Sonnet XVII

I don’t love you as if you were a rose of salt, topaz,

or arrow of carnations that propagate fire:

I love you as one loves certain obscure things,

secretly, between the shadow and the soul.

Soul In The Shadows

A precious gem, opal and Alexandrite, colours of sparkling moonlight,

Rouse lover’s eyes,

Coral and sand converge on the ocean floor, spin and whirl,

Strokes lover’s thighs,

Clay earth and burnt land, unvarnished and gaping truth,

Inflame lover’s beds,

It is in the shade,

She walks with me

Into sunlights kiss,

Obscurities amiss,

I love you without notion,

Your soul in the shadows,

Into the sun, our hearts as one.
